I’M Engaged!!

I am so excited : ) My Boyfriend took me completely by surprise and proposed to me last Monday.  We picked out my Ring on Thursday and OMG was that fun.

I promise I will write about both of these : ) But for now I need help!

His family lives out here in California, while my family lives in Michigan. He has about 30 people he would invite ( but really about 10 that he really wants there ) and I have close to 50 ( but again all I really want are my kids and my mom). But both our families would not be happy if we didn’t have a wedding.

I would love a wedding by the water, beach or lake. We both agree on wanting a small outdoor wedding. But as I look at costs for reception, omg any thought on trying to keep costs down goes out the window. We only want to spend around 4-5k at the most. We have costs of moving him out to Michigan to think about, and possibly another baby.

The only people we are sure we absolutely want at the wedding are my children, his sister and mom, and my mom. If we had something small with just them, it would be perfect. But how do you tactfully exclude so many other family members?

He is starting to suggest eloping, but Ive already got my heart set on my baby boy and girl being the flower girl and ring bearer, and my two older boys walking me down the aisle.

I tend to over complicate things, when there is usually a simpler answer. And thoughts.

Oh and of course, here is a picture of my ring,

If we go ahead and have a wedding with about 100 people, anyone have suggestions on keeping costs down? The reception seems to be what will costs the most.

Even keeping the costs of a venue for the ceremony down?

    Congratulations on your engagement!!!
    Where are you located?

I know in NJ it’s not easy to have an wedding with 100 guests for under 10k… Unless you do it at someone’s house and have people cook and make it really laid back. Which is a cool idea in itself.

Honestly, I don’t regret having my wedding, though we wanted something small, we wound up going big. We are still paying it off (1.5 yrs later), but in some ways, eloping would’ve been sooo nice too :)
